Super Eagles Pays Respect to Diogo Jota

The Super Eagles have conveyed their profound sadness regarding the untimely demise of Diogo Jota, the forward for Portugal and Liverpool, who reportedly lost his life in a car accident in Zamora, Spain, on Thursday morning.

It is believed that Jota and his brother perished when their Lamborghini went off the road and ignited after a tyre blowout during an overtaking manoeuvre.

According to reports from Spanish police, the incident took place around 12:30 a.m. local time in the municipality of Cernadilla.

In a touching message posted on their official X account, the Super Eagles expressed their condolences alongside the global football community in mourning the loss of the gifted forward.

“We are saddened to learn of the tragic passing of Diogo Jota. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and teammates during this difficult time. May his soul find eternal peace.”

The news has reverberated throughout the football community, with tributes flooding in from clubs, national teams, and players worldwide.

Jota had a remarkable career with Liverpool, gaining respect for his speed, adaptability, and goal-scoring ability.

He was also an essential player for the Portuguese national team, contributing to their victory in the UEFA Nations League and playing a vital role in their efforts to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
