Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) said the Port Harcourt Refining Company (PHRC) will undergo a temporary shutdown starting from Saturday, as part of a scheduled maintenance and sustainability review.
In a statement issued by Olufemi Soneye, Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPC Ltd, the company emphasized that the maintenance is a critical part of efforts to ensure the refinery operates efficiently and sustainably.
“We are working closely with all relevant stakeholders, including the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), to ensure the maintenance and assessment activities are carried out efficiently and transparently,” Soneye stated.

He added that NNPC Ltd remains fully committed to advancing energy security in Nigeria, noting that the maintenance effort aligns with the company’s long-term goal of sustainable energy delivery.
Industry observers, including energy analyst Dipo Oladehinde, have noted the importance of such maintenance programs in safeguarding the operational integrity of national energy assets.
