A report reaching our news desk has it that soldiers have frozen up human movements within Government House, Port Harcourt following a state of emergency imposed on Rivers State by President Bola Tinubu.
The emergency rule declaration which took effect from Tuesday evening shortly after the president proclaimed it, is expected to subsist for the next six months.
The president also suspended all the democratically elected officials of the executive and legislative arms of the state government which include, Governor Siminalayi Fubara, Deputy Governor Ngozi Odu, and all the state Assembly lawmakers.
A reliable source who works in Government House told our correspondent that nobody is allowed by the soldiers to either enter or exit the Government House premises.

It was reported that shortly after the president declared a state of emergency on the state, soldiers were detailed to occupy Government House including the stationing of an armored personnel carrier at the gate of the state’s seat of power.
Tinubu who invoked the constitutional provision of section 305, also blamed the now-suspended governor for demolishing the state Assembly complex unjustly, adding that Fubara had done nothing to nip the lingering political crisis in the bud.
Though Fubara has called for calm, there are continuous arguments for and against the president’s decision by many Nigerians regarding whether Tinubu was legally right or wrong.
