A youth leader who said he is the secretary general of the Ijaw Youth Council, has accused security personnel working for the FCT Minister, Chief Nyesom Wike, and former commissioner for works, George Kelly, of shooting, tear gassing and chasing them out of Abalama Secondary School field in Asari-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Mr Maobuye Nangi revealed that the action by the security personnel left a lot of women and youth injured, as they fled for their lives.

The situation is worsening, as the aggrieved youths and women have asked the security operatives to kill them, insisting they would return to the venue, which is also the venue of the IYC meeting scheduled to hold today.

Maobuye lamented that they were denied access to the venue by security operatives loyal to the FCT Minister.

According to him, “Wike’s soldiers, George Kelly’s soldiers, they have been shooting at us, they’ve chased us away. They said we can’t have our meeting while they are having their own meeting.

“They’ve been shooting at us, injuring a lot of women, tear gassing us. We are only here as Kalabari people, as Ijaw people to have the IYC congress, nothing more. They chose to also fix their meeting in our same venue, we said okay, use your part, let’s use our part, they brought their police and the Nigeria Army, they are shooting at us, they should kill us.”

He added that, “we want the world to know what is happening. Look at what they’ve done to me, look at my eyes, they are chasing us, our people, see what they are doing to us, you can imagine Wike’s people, they came here and said we will not have our meeting in Abalama.”

Meanwhile, most of the billboards carrying the face of the FCT Minister have been destroyed by angry Abalama people as a way of Express their grievances.
