Rivers: Gunmen Kill’s Four in Ahoada

Pandemonium erupted in the early hours of Sunday, October 20, 2024, as gunmen suspected to be cultists invaded Edeoha community in Ahoada East Local Government Area of Rivers State, killing four people.

The attackers believed to be members of the Iceland cult group, stormed the community around 2 a.m., heavily armed with sophisticated weapons. They reportedly went house-to-house, shooting sporadically and targeting specific individuals, resulting in the deaths of four people.

Local sources confirmed that three of the victims were natives of Edeoha, while the fourth was from Ekata, another community within Ahoada East LGA, but residing in Edeoha.

According to intelligence reports, the attackers are believed to have come from a nearby community, which remains unnamed for security reasons.

A resident of Edeoha, speaking anonymously, claimed the victims were not involved in cult activities, suggesting that the attack may have been carried out by cultists hired to settle personal scores.

The community, which is accessible via the Nbaima-Ahoada highway and surrounded by creeks and rivers, has often been exploited by criminals seeking to escape after violent attacks.

Confirming the incident, Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, said, confirmed the incident was cult-related.
