Gunmen, suspected to be cultists, killed two people on Monday at Odiokwu Junction in Ula-Ehuda, Igbu Akoh-Kingdom, Ahoada East Local Government Area of Rivers State.
This attack occurred just 24 hours after five people were murdered in Edeoha Community, Upata Kingdom, also in Ahoada East LGA.
The Public Relations Officer of Igbu-Akoh Kingdom, Hector Chinem, informed journalists that on Sunday night 20 October 2024, locals noticed individuals dressed in coveralls and military rainwear moving around the area. By Monday morning, October 21, 2024, two youths were found dead, their bodies riddled with bullets.

Chinem lamented that this incident came barely 24 hours after the previous killings in Edeoha. He called on Rivers State Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Mustapha, to urgently enhance security in the area, as remnants of cult groups have infiltrated local communities.
Chinem also urged the youth of the LGA to lay down their arms and allow peace to prevail.
As of Monday afternoon, there was rising tension in the LGA, with some residents fleeing the area.
The spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, SP Grace Iringe Koko, had not yet commented on the Monday killings.
However, on Sunday, October 20, 2024, she confirmed that the Edeoha killings were cult-related. She added that CP Mohammed Mustapha had directed the Ahoada Area Commander and the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ahoada Police Division to launch an investigation to apprehend the perpetrators.
Reports indicate that the family of the deceased has already taken the bodies for burial.
