The Vice Chairman of Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State, Chief Frank Esiwo Ozue, who was abducted by gunmen has regained freedom after days with his captors.
It was gathered that Chief Ozue who ambushed and kidnapped him on Sunday, along Iwhre-Ovie/Oviri-Ogor Road in Ogor Town, off Ughelli/Evwreni section of the East-West Road, was freed by his abductors late Wednesday night after a ransom was paid.
According to sources, the family of the victim reportedly paid N7 million to secure his release.
Confirming his release on Thursday, Ozue, who is a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, said he was kidnapped by suspected bandits operating in the area.
He wrote on his Facebook page, “I regained my freedom from dare devil extremists, Hausas leaving within us, now turned Boko Haram in our communities. Truly they are here. I will do documentary on my 4 days in captivity.”
When contacted, the Police spokesperson for Delta State Command, DSP Bright Edafe confirmed the development, adding that the victim has reunited with his family.
