Senate minority leader, others visit Wike in Rivers

Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, on Thursday, received the Senate Minority Leader, Senator Philip Aduda at his private residence in Rumuepirikom, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the state.

In attendance at the meeting were the Senate Minority Whip, Senator Chukwuka Utazi, Senator Shuaibu Lau, Senator Danjuma La’ah, and Senator Barry Mpigi.

This comes a day after the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi visited the governor, to discuss issues, Obi said are of national interest.

Governor Wike also received the former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Elder Godsday Orubebe, who recently resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In his resignation letter addressed to the National Chairman of the Party, Iyorchia Ayu, the former Minister said the present situation in the party does not inspire confidence that the party is ready to regain power in 2023.

Although details of the meeting were sketchy at press time, it was gathered that the senators arrived at the governor’s residence late Thursday afternoon, proceeding to a closed-door meeting that lasted for about two hours.
