Four feared dead as Fashola, Ngige’s convoy crash in Delta

Four persons have reportedly lost their lives following a crash involving the convoy of the Chief of Staff, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari; Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola; and his counterpart in Labour and Employment, Christ Ngige, during the inspection of a bridge in Asaba, Delta State.

The victims, suspected to be policemen were feared dead in the accident that occurred on Tuesday evening, PUNCH reports.

It was learnt that the driver lost control of the vehicle conveying security operatives, crashing into a deep pit.

An eyewitness, who gave his name as John Okorie, said the incident happened when the vehicle conveying the victims was diverting towards a bend leading to the construction site of the Second Niger Bridge, Asaba.

It was gathered that the police vehicle was speeding to meet up with the ministers’ vehicles when it veered off the road and crashed.

However, four persons were rescued from the accident which was said to be fatal

Meanwhile, the Police spokesperson in the State, DSP Bright Edafe, said he was yet to receive the accident report as of the time of filing this report.
