Bus crash claims 6 in Delta

No less than six people have died following a lone accident involving a Toyota Hiace bus near Obasanjo Farms, along Asaba-Ogwashi-Uku-Kwale-Ughelli road in Delta State.

The accident which happened over the weekend left six other passengers in critical condition at the hospital.

It was gathered that the accident occurred due to a burst tyre, causing the vehicle to summersault several times.

The 18 passengers on board the vehicle were said to be returning to Warri from Anambra State where they had attended a burial ceremony.

Local sources said four persons died on the spot while two others died at the hospital.

The Delta Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, (FRSC), Ibrahim Abubakar who confirmed the accident said the accident was due to overspeeding.

He said the vehicle might have entered into a ditch which resulted in the burst tyre and advised drivers to be cautious while driving.
