Lady found dead with eyes plucked out in Delta

A yet-to-be-identified lady in her early 20s has reportedly been killed and her eyes removed by suspected cultists in Ogwashi-Uku, in the Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State.

It was gathered that the deceased’s corpse was found by the roadside along Ubulu-Unor Road on Wednesday, Punch reports.

According to a source, “Some people who passed the road early Tuesday morning saw the corpse and raised the alarm, and many people rushed down to see for themselves.

“When we got there, we saw the girl wearing a pair of jean trousers and a white top. Her face was covered with blood, and her two eyes were no more. You can see her eye sockets empty.”

The source noted that community vigilantes called the police, who took the corpse to a morgue.

Confirming the development, the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, said an investigation had been launched into the incident.

“The police were alerted to the scene of the incident by community youths who discovered the corpse of the lady with two eyes removed.

“The DPO in Ogwashi-Uku confirmed the incident to me, and he said the corpse has since been taken to the mortuary,” Edafe noted.
