The Rivers State House of Assembly has passed the state’s 2022 Appropriation Bill of N438.1bn presented to the House by the state governor, Nyesom Wike.
The budget was passed after the house committee on supply, headed by the speaker, Ikuiyi Awaji Ibani submitted the report to the House.
This triggered comments from various lawmakers, commending the work done by the Appropriation Committee.
25 members of the House voted the passing of the bill after the speaker put the question forward.
Speaking after passing the bill, the speaker commended the committee on appropriation for following the budgetary processes.
He also commended them for interfacing with the government’s Ministries, Departments, and Agencies during the process.
In his remarks, the Chairman, House Committee on Appropriation, Enemi George said the financial plan would improve the wellbeing of the Rivers people.
Speaking with journalists after the House proceedings, the Leader of the House, Martins Amaehule assured indigenes that political activities in the coming year will not affect the oversight responsibilities of the lawmakers.
This passage comes less than two weeks after the bill was presented to the House by Governor Wike.
