Brave Dickson

The Federal Road Safety Corps has predicted more road crashes in the south-southern and south-eastern parts of the country due to the high volume of vehicles moving into the duo regions for Christmas celebration.

Chatting with our correspondent, a serving officer and former spokesman for the Rivers State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps, John Michael warned against reckless driving.

He said, “since the south-south and south-east are largely celebrating Christmas than other regions of the country, the tendency for road crashes will be higher.

“Some of the factors that could lead to road crashes include: Driving under intoxicants, overloading of vehicles with excessive laden, over-speeding, unnecessary dragging of roads by motorists and so on.

“We are advising road users to travel during the day so they can quickly get security and other helps if their vehicles break down.”

The road safety agency further urged travellers to adhere to road safety rules in order to avert fatalities and lifetime injuries.
