Gunmen attack Police station in Bayelsa, kill one

Gunmen on Tuesday attacked the Divisional Police Station in Kolo, Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.

It was gathered that an officer was killed during the attack, while others sustained injuries.

According to eyewitnesses, the gunmen, who were about six in number shot at a police team conducting a stop and search in front of the station.

The account stated that three policemen were on duty during the incident.

After one was shot, the remaining two tried to repel the attack but escaped as they were outnumbered.

The deceased was said to have been rushed to the hospital, where he passed on.

The gunmen during the attack made away with some ammunition.

Confirming the incident, the state police command spokesman, Asinim Butswat, said the police had launched investigations into the incident.
