Seven members of the State, local government and ward executives of the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State have secured a judgment in a High Court sitting in Abuja restraining anyone acting or claiming to be member of the party in Rivers state from interfering in their duty as caretaker members of the party in Various local government areas.

The seven members of the state, local government and ward executive of the APC had approached the court against party and its national chairman for interpretation of sections of the party constitution and an order to be allowed to perform their duty without any interference.

Justice A. O MUSA in his Judgment ordered that the plaintiffs should be allowed without inhibition to perform their functions including registration and revalidation of party members, having been appointed by the national caretaker committee of the party.

The court held that upon the interpretation of the provision of the act of the party’s constitution 2014 as amended and in furtherance of the resolution and decision of the national executive council of 8th December, 2020, the plaintiffs are the only persons authorized to perform all the functions of the elected officers of the APC in the state, conduct Congress and running of the party affairs.
