Covid-19: Bayelsa discharges 7, urges residents to observe health advisories

Seven individuals who tested positive with Covid-19, undergoing treatment in the state’s treatment centres, have been discharged after full recovery and satisfying NCDC protocol.

Five (5) of them were discharged on Sunday 14th in addition to one (1) discharged on Saturday 13th June 2020 from the Federal Medical Centre ( FMC), Yenagoa treatment centre.

The state has so far recorded 32 infections with 3 active cases, 26 discharges and 3 deaths.

A statement signed by the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Information and Orientation, and Member Bayelsa State Taskforce on Covid-19, Mr Freston Akpor noted that One person was also discharged on Friday 12th June 2020 from the Niger Delta Teaching Hospital (NDUTH) Okolobiri treatment centre.

“There are currently three (3) active cases at the states treatment Centres and are responding to treatment.

“We commend the frontline teams at the two treatment centres, the contact teams and all medical professionals for demonstrating commitment and professionalism in an effort at managing the sick and defeating the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Bayelsans and residents are advised to continue to observe all public health advisories and stay safe,” he said.
