NSF: Rivers State is committed to excel in Edo 2020 – Iyaye

The Rivers state commissioner for sports, Boma Iyaye, has reiterated the state’s commitment towards ensuring athletes representing the state come tops at the festival.

Boma Iyaye said his while receiving the National Sports Festival touch in Port Harcourt ahead of the Edo 2020 National Sports festival.

He said the athletes have been well motivated to perform at their best when the festival gets underway.

“Rivers State has been participating in all the games since 1973. Especially in the last three editions, Rivers State has always put up a very good fight. We are always counted among the best when it comes to the National Sports Festival. And we also know that the National Sports Festival is like the Olympics of Nigeria, it goes a long way to bring unity among our youths. It binds our youths and it encourages our youths to compete fairly among each other.

“Therefore, this edition Edo 2020 will not be a different case, Rivers State will participate and will not only take part in the competition but will go there to win,” he said.

Meanwhile, the permanent secretary to the Rivers State Government and chairman athletes committee HONOR SIRAWOO said the athletes have been trained and are determined to make Rivers state proud.

He assured that the welfare of athletes will be well taken care of.

The 2020 National Sports Festival is billed for March 22 to April 1, in Benin City, Edo State capital.
