One person has been killed by pirates operating on the Bille Waterways in Degema Local Government Area of Rivers State.
An eyewitness told theportcitynews that pirates attacked a boat ferrying passengers to Port Harcourt in the early hours of Monday morning, killing one and injuring many.
He said that the pirates accosted the boat but the driver failed to stop leading to the shooting.
He added that the pirates later took possession of the boat after robbing the passengers of their valuables.
The eyewitness confirmed that one person died while the rest were evacuated to a primary healthcare centre in the town.
