The Assistant Commandant of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps, NSCDC, Mohammed Haruna says the command in Rivers state is affected by pressures from politicians to release criminals that they arrested.
Speaking during a Town Hall Meeting of critical stakeholders to address concerns over the rising cases of atrocious killings in Rivers state, the NSCDC boss said the development is affecting the command’s determination to deliver on its mandate.
The town hall meeting which had participants from the Police, NSCDC, CSOs, NDLEA, PCC, NHRC, was organized by a civil society organization, We The People and is aimed at finding a lasting solution to the killings ravaging the state.
Some of the discussions during the town hall meeting revolved around tracking atrocious killings in the state and working with law enforcement agencies through information sharing to end the killings.
