INEC to commence distribution of sensitive materials in Rivers State on Thursday

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Rivers State on Wednesday assured political party agents that sensitive materials for the Presidential and National Assembly elections to various local government areas of the state on Thursday.

The state Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Obo Effenga while addressing journalists at the at the premises of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Port Harcourt disclosed that the batching and inspection of election sensitive materials by the INEC and various party agents was on going adding that the Commission started with the batching of the election materials last week.

Effanga said: “We started with the batching of many materials, so we brought out the already batched ones so that the political parties representatives witness and we are bringing out the new ones and also keeping them according to their LGAs.

“The electoral officials are checking the content of each of the parcel to ensure that it marches with what they expect in there.”

“Peradventure there are mistakes, that can be also corrected at this stage and the political parties here represented are observing what that is going on, by the time we are through with the batching and inspections, we can now be moving them to their different local government areas.”

“We are sure that we will move the items by tomorrow but weather we can finish with any of the LGA,s today and start moving them, am not too sure because there is quite a lot of materials that we are sorting out and batching,” the REC said.
