Obio Akpor Youths Stage Protest Against AGIP Oil Company (Pictures)

Youths in Obio Akpor have on Monday morning, the 30th of April, staged a peaceful protest against the Nigerian-American oil giant, AGIP.

The protesting youths barricaded the entrance to the company’s headquarters in Port Harcourt in their hundreds and also blocked a section of the road leading to Eagle Island.

Among the reasons for the protest, were the lack of employment opportunities, lack of skills acquisition programs and the non-establishment of a vocational centers in Akpor Kingdom.

As at the time of filing this report, no representative of the Nigerian AGIP oil company has come to address the protesting youths, although the CTC Chairman of Obio Akpor, Prince Noble is on ground.
