JOHESU Rivers State branch, to join nationwide strike.

The Rivers STATE Branch of the Joint Health
Sector Unions {JOHESU} says it will join in the indefinite strike in a weeks’ time, if the federal government fails to meet their agreement.

The chairman, Comrade Chris Mbata made this known to Theportcitynews.com reporter, Tina Stephen.

He stressed that the consolidated health salary structure of health professionals should be implemented.

According to him, the lingering challenge of the union is due to the refusal of the federal ministry of health to send memo to federal health executive council for approval.

“Of course you will recall that JOHESU was on sensitization visit in the geo-political zones in Nigeria. In Rivers State, we were in University of Portharcourt Teaching Hospital telling well meaning Nigeria to intervene but up till now nothing has happened. These are the issues, not to say that JOHESU is after its pocket, the answer is no.

“First of all a worker is worth his wages. What we are saying is, federal ministry of health which is the government’s establishment responsible for health should be able to live up to expectation.

“You cannot have three children, love one and hate two. There must be problem. If you don’t want that problem, you should do the needful. If you don’t do the needful, the problem will continue on abated”

He further said that all health workers across the country should be fairly treated and given an enabling working environment.
