BET Awards: Tems Wins Best Gospel/Inspirational Prize 2024

Nigerian singer, songwriter, and record producer Temilade Openiyi, widely known as Tems, achieved another milestone in her illustrious career by winning the Dr. Bobby Jones Best Gospel/Inspirational Award at the 2024 BET Awards. The ceremony took place on Monday at the Peacock Theatre in Downtown Los Angeles.

Tems clinched the award with her soul-stirring track “Me & U,” surpassing renowned artists like Kirk Franklin, CeCe Winans, and Maverick City Music. This victory marks her fourth BET Award, adding to her growing collection of accolades.

In addition to her latest triumph, Tems previously won the BET Awards for Best International Act and Best Collaboration in 2022 for her feature on Wizkid’s global hit “Essence.”

She continued her winning streak in 2023 by securing the Best Collaboration award for her song “Wait for U” with Drake and Future. The track also earned her the same prize at the BET Hip Hop Awards in 2022.

The BET Awards, established in 2001 by Black Entertainment Television, are dedicated to recognizing and celebrating the achievements of Black entertainers and other underrepresented groups in music, film, sports, and philanthropy.
