Alex Iwobi has publicly admitted fault and issued a heartfelt apology following his late red card in Nigeria’s 2-2 international friendly draw against Jordan national football team on March 31.
The Super Eagles midfielder was sent off after reacting angrily to being held back by Amer Jamous during the closing stages of the encounter in Turkey.
Speaking on the Alexander Yaa Digg Podcast, the former Arsenal player accepted responsibility for his actions, describing his behaviour as unacceptable.
“I need to address what I did and apologise to all my Nigerian teammates, staff, and everyone who cares about Nigeria. My actions were not good enough, and I got sent off,” Iwobi said.
The Fulham star added that he is determined to learn from the incident and move forward positively.
“But I will learn from this and keep moving on. We got a draw, we did not lose, so I want to apologise for the mistake,” he added, while urging focus on the positives from the match.
