Education Boost in Omuma as Rivers NYSC Member Upgrades School Infrastructure

A National Youth Service Corps NYSC, member, serving at Community Secondary School, Umuoyor, Omuma Local Government Area of Rivers State, Bassey Anita Akpan, has given a major face-lift to the school.

The corps member with call-up number RV/25A/1217, procured 90 pieces of desk for the use of the students of the school and also repainted the entire school building.

To enhance modern teaching and learning, Akpan purchased five pieces of white marker boards. She also changed broken and dilapidated wooden windows with modern aluminum ones.

The Rivers corps member further aided teaching and learning of the students by distributing education materials like textbooks and exercise books Also, Akpan procured a complete set of school uniforms for indigent students of the school.

The project, she explained was part of her determination to improve her place of primary assignment and leave a lasting legacy in her host community.

While inaugurating the projects, the NYSC State Coordinator, Mr Moses Oleghe, commended the corps member for the lofty projects she accomplished.

Oleghe lauded her resolve to make impact in her place of primary assignment through the projects she initiated.

NYSC boss who was represented by the Obio/Akpor 11 Zonal Inspector, Mr. Tekerebo Gidigidi, revealed that, “by embarking on the projects, corps member Bassey Anita Effiong has not only done herself and her family proud, but the NYSC Scheme.

“I charge other corps members serving in Omuma LGA to emulate the good works of this corps member while fulfilling the noble values of the NYSC through disciplined, diligent and patriotic service to the fatherland.”

Shortly after the inauguration, the zonal inspector as part of his itinerary in the LGA, inspected the ongoing construction of a central corpers lodge.

The lodge is a pet project of the Omuma local government chairman, Hon. Uchechukwu Obasi.

Gidigidi described the project as ideal and significant, revealing that “it will reduce the negative impact of acute accommodation challenges faced by corps members posted to Omuma LGA while boosting the posting of more corps members to them to drive educational growth and development.”

Further, the Omuma Local Government Inspector, Mr. Arinze Egwuatu and his corps members were on ground to warmly receive and welcome the zonal inspector and his team to the LGA.
