Rivers Govt Praises Federal Agencies for Strengthening Security

The Rivers State Government has praised the commitment and cooperation of federal agencies working to maintain safety and security across the state.

Juliana Masi, Head of the Information and Public Relations Unit in the Office of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), in a statement, said the SSG Dagogo Wokoma delivered the commendation during a courtesy visit by the State Commander of the Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Bature Dawa, in Port Harcourt.

Speaking on behalf of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, Wokoma lauded the strong collaboration between the agencies in advancing the administration’s vision of peace, prosperity, and progress in Rivers State.

He urged residents to remain law-abiding, emphasising that respect for the law is crucial for good governance and sustainable development throughout the state.

Wokoma also highlighted Governor Fubara’s ongoing commitment to initiatives that promote peace and social order, stressing that the administration will continue to support federal programmes aimed at strengthening security and public safety.

Meanwhile, Dawa revealed that the NDLEA had arrested 39 suspects in Rivers State between December 2025 and the present, including 16 new cases currently under investigation.

He explained that the agency has intensified efforts to combat the spread of illicit drugs through its Drug Demand Reduction and Drug Supply Control Units, ensuring offenders face justice.

Dawa urged parents and guardians to closely monitor their children and called on hotel owners and managers to remain vigilant, preventing their facilities from being exploited for drug-related activities.

He also advocated for the introduction of drug integrity tests in schools and within the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) as part of broader measures to curb substance abuse among young people.

In a related development, during a courtesy visit by the Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), CC Inyang Umoh, Wokoma reminded residents to adhere to road safety laws and drive considerately. The FRSC State Commander, in turn, expressed gratitude to Governor Fubara for his continued support of the Corps.
