As part of efforts to curb criminality in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State, the LGA Chairman, Hon. Charles Wobodo, has launched motorcycle profiling exercise.
The exercise which was declared open on Monday, March 16, 2026, at Isiokpo, headquarters of Ikwerre LGA will end on the 14th of April, this year.
Motorcycle operators would receive identity cards, motorcycle particulars, National ID cards and Aprons for easy identification.
In his address, Wobodo tasked all motorcycle operators to avail themselves for the exercise, warning that those who failed to participate would be banned from operating in the area.
The LG chair who was represented by his special adviser on transportation, Hon. Emmanuel Chika Ogele, revealed that the exercise was “necessary for every Okada man to participate, pointing out that any person who failed to participate in the profiling exercise would be completely banned.
“motorcycle profiling is necessary in Ikwerre LGA, inorder to curb incessant criminality in Ikwerre Local Government Area. He said that every community in Ikwerre LGA would their own color for proper identification, pointing out that some Okada operators might go contrary to the decision of the council.”
The LG boss further charged operators to ensure compliance with the directive of the council or face the full wrath of the law.
In his part, the State Chairman of Motorcycle Union, Comrade Emmanuel Chiaza, explained that the exercise had long been discussed with the council chairman during a stakeholders meeting.
Chiaza, who was represented by the State Treasurer, motorcycle Union of Nigeria, Chief Richard Amadi, explained that “some of the problems in Ikwerre Local Government Area are caused by some Okada ridders who indulge in criminal activities, hence the need for motorcycle profiling in the area.”
