Ikorodu City Dominate Rivers United to Seal Crucial Home Victory

Ikorodu City FC secured a vital 1–0 win over league leaders Rivers United FC in a tense Nigeria Premier Football League encounter.

The decisive moment arrived in the 52nd minute when Folarin Temitope reacted quickest inside the penalty area to fire the hosts into the lead.

The move began when Salami Farouk’s effort was parried by the Rivers United goalkeeper, but Temitope was perfectly positioned to tuck home the rebound and send the home crowd into celebration.

Despite Rivers United’s attempts to find an equaliser, Ikorodu City remained organised defensively and managed the game well to protect their advantage until the final whistle.

The victory represents an important result for the Lagos based side as they continue their push for a strong finish in the league, while Rivers United will see the defeat as a setback in their bid to maintain control of the title race.

For Finidi George’s men, the loss adds further pressure as the season enters its decisive stage with rivals closing in at the top of the table.
