D’Tigress Arrive Lyon Ahead Of 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup Qualifying

Nigeria’s senior women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, have arrived in Villeurbanne, Lyon as they gear up for the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup Qualifying Tournament.

The qualifying competition is scheduled to take place from March 11 to March 17, bringing together several national teams battling for places at the global showpiece.

Head coach Rena Wakama has assembled a 12-player squad for the tournament, with the team already beginning its preparations in the French city.

The reigning African champions will face a demanding schedule during the qualifiers, taking on France, Germany, Colombia, South Korea and the Philippines.

Experienced players including Promise Amukamara, Ezinne Kalu, Amy Okonkwo and Sarah Ogoke are expected to provide leadership and offensive strength as Nigeria aims to secure qualification.

D’Tigress will begin their campaign with a clash against Colombia on March 11.
