Diri Appoints 18 Permanent Secretaries

Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, has approved the appointment of eighteen individuals as permanent secretaries in the state civil service.

The development was disclosed in a statement posted on the state government’s official Facebook page on Monday. The statement was signed by Buruboyefe John, Chairman of the Bayelsa State Civil Service Commission.

The newly appointed permanent secretaries are: Awana Raymond, Egbuson Amanda, Ogregade Ileimokumo, Ketebu Thompson, Burutolu Samuel, Bomote Anne, Dagogo Edmundson, Enuma Charles, Salbot Owil, Dr Stow Jones, Efeke Pereyi, Doyowei Pulotua, Toloko Sylvester, Ede-Alakere Tarila, Torutein Ovienadu, Ogbara Faith, Vincent Jonathan and Engr. Cole James.

The statement added that details regarding the swearing-in ceremony would be communicated in due course.

It congratulated the appointees and urged them to justify the confidence reposed in them by contributing meaningfully to the growth and development of the state civil service.

The appointments came a year after Governor Diri swore in fifteen new permanent secretaries at a ceremony held inside the Executive Council Chambers of the Government House in Yenagoa, the state capital.

At the time, the governor charged the new permanent secretaries to discharge their duties with utmost integrity and accountability in whichever ministries they were assigned.

He also urged them to uphold high standards of professionalism and ethics to ensure that their actions reflected both their aspirations and the values of the people.

Congratulating them on reaching the pinnacle of their careers, Diri stressed that their effectiveness remained crucial to the seamless functioning of government.

The governor expressed confidence in their ability to deliver excellence in the civil service and implored them to foster teamwork and maintain open lines of communication, particularly with staff in their respective ministries.
