Tinubu Congratulates Bye-Election Winners, Praises Wike

Nigeria’s President, Bola Tinubu, on Sunday congratulated winners of Saturday’s by-elections held in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Kano State and Rivers State. In a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President urged the victorious candidates to serve with humility, patriotism and dedication, describing the mandate given to them by the electorate as a sacred trust.

He also commended the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, for what he described as notable achievements in the territory, adding that such efforts had yielded political dividends for the governing All Progressives Congress (APC).

Tinubu congratulated the party’s national leadership, as well as its Kano and Rivers State chapters, on the electoral victories. He further praised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies and voters for ensuring the peaceful and successful conduct of the polls.

According to him, the courage and discipline displayed by contestants reflected the vibrancy of Nigeria’s democracy, which he said thrived on participation and healthy competition. He noted that the smooth conduct of the elections further strengthened democratic institutions and urged INEC to continue improving electoral processes nationwide.

INEC conducted elections across the six area councils of the FCT and by-elections in Ahoada East II and Khana II constituencies in Rivers State, as well as Kano Municipal and Ungogo constituencies in Kano State.

The Port City News (TCPN) reported that in Rivers, APC candidates Napoleon Ukalikpe and Henrietta Bulabari emerged victorious in Ahoada East II and Khana II, respectively, after securing 3,980 and 7,647 votes.
