As part of measures to enhance security, a 6:00pm to 6:00am ban has been imposed on motorcycle operations within the Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State by the Chairman, Hon. Charles Wobodo.
The chairman also directed the motorcycle operators to report to the council secretariat for official operational number vests while announcing an immediate ban on hunting activities across the LGA.
Hunter were also directed to approach the council headquarters for proper profiling and approval before engaging in any hunting activities.
Wobodo announced the restrictions on Friday, February 20, 2026, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Wariso Wariso.
On motorcycle, popularly known as Okada, he warned operators across the 13 wards of the LGA to strictly adhere to the ban which takes effect from Tuesday, February 24.
“All motorcycle riders operating within the LGA must report to the council secretariat to obtain official operational number vests as part of new regulatory measures.
“In addition, the council has placed an immediate ban on hunting activities across the LGA. All hunters have been advised to approach the council headquarters for proper profiling and approval before engaging in any hunting activities.
“The existing ban on scrap dumps and scavenging activities across the LGA remains in force. Anyone found violating these directives will face the full weight of the law.
“The decisions were reached following a stakeholders’ meeting held today at the Council Secretariat as part of efforts to strengthen security and maintain public order within the LGA.”
