Diri Inaugurates RHA Ambassadors in Bayelsa

Governor Douye Diri has inaugurated coordinators of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors (RHA) across the eight local government areas under the Bayelsa chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), charging them to mobilise party members ahead of the forthcoming congresses.

In a statement issued on Friday by his Chief Press Secretary, Daniel Alabrah, Diri tasked the local government coordinators with galvanising support at the ward, local government and state levels to ensure the APC’s success.

He confirmed that Chief Tiwei Orunimighe remained the state coordinator and urged the RHA to embrace inclusive leadership at both the local government and state levels. He also directed them to collaborate with the South-South zonal coordinator, Ifeanyi Okowa.

The governor gave the charge during an APC stakeholders’ meeting at the Alamieyeseigha Banquet Hall, where he warned party leaders against divisive tendencies and called for unity of purpose across wards and local government areas.

Diri further urged members to set aside their personal political ambitions and focus on the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in 2027.

“We know that some of you have personal political ambitions. However, put such ambitions on hold for now. You belong to a political party that has only one ambition above every other — the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.”

He said the purpose of the meeting was to ensure that the nomination of Tinubu as the sole presidential candidate of the APC in the forthcoming election remains our number one priority.

The newly inaugurated RHA local government coordinators are Kuro Matthias Nyenye (Nembe), Dr Godson Torukuru (Yenagoa), Uroh Kiani (Brass), Engr. Biewari Orupeighe (Southern Ijaw), High Chief Okubokakpo Ombu (Sagbama), Chief Ebinyo Turner (Ogbia), Rt. Hon. Tonye Isenah (Kolokuma/Opokuma) and Hon. Orubebe Ogeibiri (Ekeremor).

Ekeremor’s committee includes the Minister of State for Petroleum (Oil), Heineken Lokpobiri, Deputy Speaker Michael Ogbere, former Deputy Governor Peremobowei Ebebi, Chief Fidelis Agbiki and Hon. Tari Porri.

Isaac Kumokou and Dr Tarilah Tebepah will oversee the process in Kolokuma/Opokuma.

In Nembe, the committee features the APC acting state chairman, Dr Dennis Otiotio; Senator Degi Eremienyo; former Deputy Governor Rear Admiral Gboribiogha John-Jonah (Rtd); Hon. Ebi Ben-Ololo; and Hon. Oteigbanyo Braah.

Ogbia’s committee includes the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, Dr Samuel Ogbuku; Senator Benson Agadaga; and Hon. Gabriel Ogbara.

For Sagbama, members are Prince Ebitimi Amgbare, Managing Director of the Niger Delta Basin Development Commission; the Chief of Staff, Government House, Dr Peter Akpe; and Chief Kemi Prefa.

Southern Ijaw’s ward congress committee comprises Konbowei Benson; Rodney Ambaiowei; Monday Obolo-Bubou; the Secretary to the State Government, Nimibofa Ayawei; and Chief David Lyon.

Yenagoa’s committee includes former acting governor and former Speaker of the State Assembly, Chief Werinipre Seibarugu; Hon. Oforji Oboku; Dr Gentle Emelah; and Chief Boma Spero-Jack.

In his remarks, the APC caretaker committee chairman, Dr Otiotio, disclosed that the party’s national secretariat had released the timetable for the ward, local government and state congresses, as well as the national convention.

He stated that the ward and local government congresses would hold on 18 and 21 February respectively, while the state congress was scheduled for 1 March 2026.
