No Project Lacks Funding, Bayelsa Govt Insists

The Bayelsa State Government, under Governor Douye Diri, has denied claims that ongoing projects across the state were suffering from funding shortfalls. In a statement made available on the state government facebook page, the Commissioner for Information, Orientation and Strategy, Ebiowou Koku-Obiyai, disclosed during a transparency briefing on Friday.

He stated that no project in the state was experiencing a lack of funds, stressing that the government had continued to prioritise development. According to her, key projects—including roads, bridges, a stadium, the secretariat complex, and gas turbine projects, had recorded significant progress and milestones due to adequate funding.

oku-Obiyai said the Assured Prosperity administration had worked tirelessly to diversify the state’s economy, with major investments made in the blue economy, agriculture, marine transport, tourism, and the acquisition of two aircraft. She added that the government remained committed to transparency and accountability, which informed its regular financial briefings to keep citizens informed of progress.

Also speaking at the briefing, the Technical Adviser on Treasury, Accounts and Revenue, Timipre Seipulou, presented a breakdown of the state’s income and expenditure for October, November and December 2025. He assured residents that the state was meeting its financial obligations due to the prudent management style of Governor Diri.Other officials present included the Accountant-General of the State, Tokoni Ifidi, and the Director-General of Bayelsa Government New Media, Dr Kolawole Oredipe.

Earlier Diri asked members of the State Executive Council to hold a valedictory session in honour of the former Commissioner for Youths and Sports in the state, late Ken Kayama. He said this at the State Executive Council Chambers in Government House, Yenagoa with current and former council members in attendance.
