A civilian security aide was shot dead on Thursday night after armed men attacked a drinking bar in Omoku while reportedly attempting to abduct the Omoku Youth President, Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area (ONELGA), deepening fears over rising violence in the area.
The incident took place at a bar located along Ogolo Street, off Palace Road, in ONELGA, Rivers State after assailant numbering seven stormed the location.
According to residents, the gunmen arrived suddenly and opened fire, causing panic among patrons.
The deceased was identified as Chigozie Oluwu, who was said to be providing security for the Omoku Youth President, Ifeanyi Azuazua, also known as Snoop.
Witnesses alleged that the attackers were specifically after the youth leader and took him away after fatally shooting his aide.
Security operatives later cordoned off the area and evacuated the body of the victim from the scene, while normal activities were temporarily disrupted as residents fled for safety.
The attack has heightened tension in Omoku, with community members expressing concern that the incident could spark retaliatory violence if urgent steps are not taken to restore calm.
Many residents have called for a stronger security presence and swift action by law enforcement agencies.

However, Revelation Agent reported that the headless and lifeless body of the youth president who went missing after the attack has been found and recovered on Friday in a yet-to-be identified forest following OSPAC patrol.
The OSPAC spokesperson, a local vigilante in ONELGA, Godnews Nkem confirmed this development, urging residents to remain as investigation is ongoing.
As of the time of filling this report, no official statement had been released on the incident.

Evang Alexander, a Facebook user, recalled how one of Omoku’s youth leaders known as Interpol was found dead while describing the city as needing rededication: “All we need now is to ask God for mercy; only mercy can help our land. I pray for his safe return.”
Wisdom Collins, another Facebook user, stated, “What is the problem with the youths of these days? Yes, in truth Snoop was a cultist, and now he’s no longer a cultist. Why didn’t they come for him when he was a nobody? Now that God has elevated him to the position of Omoku Youths Federation president, they have come for him. What are OSPAC and the police doing in Omoku?”
