A team of officers from the Ozuoba Police Division have arrested a Ghanaian landlord, Mr. Frimpong Samuel, for allegedly evicting his tenant, Mr. Anozie Tochukwu, in a shocking act that left a pregnant woman and two young children exposed to the elements.
The Revelation Agent reported that incident reportedly took place at No. 7 Chief Chike Street, NTA Road, Mgbuoba, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.
Mr. Tochukwu, who moved into the property in January 2024 and had consistently paid rent, said the ordeal began after his landlord issued a notice for renovation in late 2025 and told him not to renew his lease, which was set to expire in January 2026.

According to Tochukwu, he had already arranged for a new apartment and requested a grace period of 14 days to move out.
“On the first of February 2026, I showed him transaction payment that I made for a new apartment and pleaded for 14 days which will elapse on the 14th of February to move out. But at about 8:02 AM, on February 3, my wife called to inform me that the landlord, Mr. Frimpong Samuel, has de-roofed my apartment. A few hours later, it started raining heavily with all my properties,” Tochukwu said.
The tenant revealed that all his belongings, including electronics, furniture, foodstuff, official certificates, and even medications for his wife and children, were either damaged or missing. He estimated the total loss at around ₦25 million.
CSP Grace Iringe Koko, the Rivers State Police Command spokesperson, confirmed the arrest, adding that Frimpong Samuel would be charged in court upon completion of investigations.
“This is a clear case of malicious damage and psychological abuse. under Nigerian law, to evict a human being, you must follow due process through our courts. You must follow due process through our courts.’
Human rights lawyer Raymond Okocha, of Lawyers Watch for Justice International Initiative (LAWJII), condemned the landlord’s actions.
He further emphasised that such acts undermine the dignity of families and called for swift justice. “Justice for Mr. Tochukwu is justice for all of us. The law to take its full course.,” Okocha added.
The case has sparked outrage online and among civil society groups in Rivers State, who are urging authorities to ensure that the family is compensated and the landlord faces the full weight of the law
