Before the conclusion of the January Winter transfer market, La Liga heavyweight club, Atlético Madrid officially confirmed the signing of Super Eagles forward, Ademola Lookman, on a permanent transfer from Atalanta.
The Spanish La Liga club announced on its website; “Atlético de Madrid and Atalanta have agreed on the transfer of Ademola Lookman, who has signed for us until 30 June 2030.”
For authenticity purposes, Fabrizio Romano, a high Italian football transfer expert had earlier reported that there was a twist in Lookman’s transfer with Atlético usurping Fenerbahce to reach an agreement with Atalanta for the Nigerian international.
Romano wrote on Sunday in a post on his verified X account “Ademola Lookman to Atlético Madrid, here we go! The agreement is in place in every detail.”
The fixed fee for the transfer is €35 million, €5m add-ons to Atalanta and a long term deal agreed by Lookman after the decision last night (Saturday). Atlético, planning now for travel and medical next for the Nigerian.”
No doubt that Ademola Lookman is a player that represents an eternal enigma to opposing players. Opponents appear handicapped from discerning what he will do next on the field of play. The big question remains; Can he ring the la Liga ‘big bell’?
