Lady Fubara Assures Commitment to Citizens’ Welfare

Valerie Fubara, wife of Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, affirmed that her husband’s administration remained committed to inclusive governance, social responsibility, and the welfare of citizens.

Juliana Masi, Head of the Information and Public Relations Unit, Office of the Secretary to the State Government, disclosed this in a statement.

Mrs Fubara made the remarks on Saturday while hosting the Humanitarian Outreach/Family and Community Day, part of the activities marking the 2026 Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day in Rivers State.

She maintained that the outreach served as both a solemn tribute and a compassionate gesture, designed to preserve the memory of the nation’s shared history.

The initiative also aimed to strengthen the sacred bond between the government, Armed Forces veterans, and their families.

Mrs Fubara commended the courage, sacrifice, and patriotism of the armed forces, whose steadfast devotion had preserved Nigeria’s peace, unity, and territorial integrity.

She added that the state government would continue to support veterans and their families through policies and programmes that upheld dignity, well-being, and sustainable livelihoods.

“The nation’s Armed Forces have consistently demonstrated unwavering commitment in safeguarding lives, protecting properties, and securing critical national assets. Their noble service has contributed immensely to Nigeria’s peace, economic progress, and social cohesion.

“It is therefore our solemn duty, as both a people and government, to honour their sacrifices, support their welfare, and extend compassion and care to their families as a lasting source of encouragement and strength,” she stressed.

Dignitaries who attended the event included the Deputy Governor of Rivers State, Prof Ngozi Mma Ordu; Secretary to the State Government, Dr Benibo Anabraba, and his wife, Mrs Ifeyinwa Anabraba; Commissioner for Women Affairs, Dr Roseline Uranta; Head of the Rivers State Civil Service, Dr Mrs Inyingi Brown; and Prof Roseline Konya, among others.

Lady Fubara led participating women in aerobics sessions to promote physical wellness. The programme also featured medical checkups, games, cultural performances, and presentations of gifts to veterans and the widows of fallen heroes.
