The Rivers State Government, under Governor Siminalayi Fubara, on Thursday announced that the scheduled commissioning of Ahoada Zonal Hospital in Ahoada East LGA, originally set for Friday, December 19, 2025, would not hold.
Benibo Anabraba, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), made the announcement on behalf of the governor, adding that the governor regretted any inconvenience the postponement might have caused citizens who had prepared to attend the event.
The statement read: “This is to inform the public that the commissioning of Ahoada Zonal Hospital, Ahoada East LGA, scheduled for Friday, December 19, 2025, has been postponed to Tuesday, December 23, 2025. We regret any inconvenience this postponement may have caused our people who were prepared to attend the event. Thank you for your continued support.”
The postponed commissioning was part of a ten-project rollout intended to benefit residents across the state. When announcing the full lineup, the governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to delivering democratic dividends to the people.

He stated that the commissioning and flag-off events would run until December 23 and cover Ahoada East and West, Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni, Ikwerre, Emohua, Obio/Akpor, and Port Harcourt City Local Government Areas.
Projects scheduled, some of which have already been commissioned, included the extension of the dualisation of Ahoada–Omoku Road, Egbeda–Omerelu Link Road, Ikwerre Road–Igwuruta–Airport, RIVTAF Housing Estate/Anniversary Project, and the Ihuowo–Ihuama Ring Road.
Others were the Obodhi–Ozochi Road and Bridge, Ogbakiri Junction (Roundabout)–Ogbakiri Waterfront Road, Ahoada Zonal Hospital, Permanent Secretaries’ Quarters, and the Federal High Court Complex, while the Ipo Town–Airport Road Bypass was flagged off.
