Dangote Petroleum Refinery announced that petrol sold at its partner filling stations, including MRS Oil Nigeria Plc, will be priced at N739 per litre, as the company seeks to implement a recent decrease in fuel prices.
If there are no last-minute changes, MRS stations are anticipated to start selling petrol at the new rate on Tuesday, December 16, with other partner outlets such as Ardova, Conoil Plc, Eterna Plc, and others expected to follow suit.
The new pump price was revealed by Alhaji Aliko Dangote, the president of Dangote Group. This announcement comes just two days after the refinery reduced its ex-depot, or gantry, price for petrol from N828 to N699 per litre.
Speaking during a press briefing at the Lekki refinery, Dangote mentioned that he was aware some marketers tend to keep pump prices elevated despite lower gantry prices, which hampers efforts to pass on cost reductions to consumers.

He stated, “Beginning Tuesday, MRS will commence selling petrol at N739 per litre. We will certainly ensure that this lower price is enforced. You will not be paying N970 per litre for petrol anymore.”
He claimed that some officials had conspired with certain marketers to maintain high pump prices to obstruct the price reductions, and he emphasized that the company would utilize all available means to ensure the new pricing is implemented.
Dangote noted that the refinery had started sales to independent marketers, including those from the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), highlighting that any buyer capable of lifting 10 truckloads could acquire petrol at the N699 gantry price.
Dangote further added, “For this December and January, we do not want anyone selling petrol for over N740 nationwide. We will do everything in our power to combat those who strive to keep prices high to undermine the government and ensure these prices decrease.”
