The Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, congratulated his predecessor and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, on his 58th birthday. Wike turned 58 on Saturday, 13 December 2025.
In a statement he personally signed on Saturday, the governor hailed Wike’s significant contributions to infrastructural development across the FCT.
Fubara further acknowledged the positive and unprecedented impact of his predecessor’s leadership and work in the nation’s capital. He wished the minister continued success in his service to the nation.
He said: “It is indeed a glorious celebration for us because of the time and season we are commemorating this event. Your sterling qualities have continued to bring positive and unprecedented impact in the FCT through the provision of enduring infrastructural development. We are proud of you.”

Wike was born on December 13, 1967, and hails from the Ikwerre ethnic group of Rumuepirikom in Obio-Akpor, southern Nigeria.
He is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party and a graduate of the Rivers State University of Science and Technology. Wike is a Nigerian politician and lawyer who has served as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory since 2023.
He began his political career as Executive Chairman of Obio-Akpor Local Government Area in Rivers State in 1999, a position he held until 2007 after his re-election in 2003.
In 2007, he was appointed Chief of Staff to the Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi. He served as Governor of Rivers State from 2015 to 2023.
