The Coalition of Niger Delta Youth Stakeholders (CNDYS) has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing former Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, as the South-South Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), describing the decision as both strategic and commendable.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Convener of the coalition, Apostle Bodmas Kemepadei, congratulated Senator Okowa, noting that the appointment reflects the former governor’s proven leadership capacity, administrative competence, and long-standing dedication to the socio-economic advancement of the South-South region.

Apostle Kemepadei stated that the RHI requires a leader with deep knowledge of the region’s challenges and opportunities. According to him, Okowa’s calm, inclusive leadership style and his extensive experience in public service make him well-suited to coordinate programmes designed to uplift communities, particularly the youth population.
He emphasized that CNDYS, as an organisation committed to youth development, peace-building, and equitable growth in the Niger Delta, views the appointment as a fresh opportunity to strengthen engagement between government agencies and grassroots communities.
He expressed confidence that Senator Okowa’s leadership would help expand empowerment initiatives, deepen social welfare programmes, and promote sustainable development across the South-South.
The coalition praised President Tinubu for what it described as a thoughtful and impactful choice and conveyed its best wishes to Senator Okowa as he assumes his new national assignment.
Kemepadei added that CNDYS anticipates a productive and transformative tenure that will deliver meaningful benefits to the region’s people, especially its youths.
