The Nigerian Navy has delivered a far-reaching medical and educational outreach to Ozuoba community in Rivers State, providing free healthcare services and supplies to over 2,000 residents.

The programme carried out by the Nigerian Navy Hospital Borikiri and Nigerian Navy Secondary School Port Harcourt featured health talks on hypertension, free consultations, eye and dental checks, drug distribution, mosquito nets, and educational materials. It formed part of the Navy’s 2025 end-of-year activities.

Commander of the Nigerian Navy Hospital Borikiri, Surg Capt. Magnus Elendu, represented by Cdr Samuel Uchenna, said the outreach reflects the Navy’s ongoing commitment to strengthening civil-military relations. He noted that such initiatives remain a priority under the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral I. Abbas.

The event received strong commendation from community leaders. The Paramount Ruler of Akpor Kingdom, Eze Levi Orlu-Oriebe, described the gesture as a blessing, expressing hope for continued partnership between the Navy and the community.

Residents also praised the intervention. Beneficiary Rita Emmanuel thanked the Navy for “remembering” the community, while Uche Woke said the educational support would help promote literacy and improve health outcomes in Akpor.

The outreach is expected to further strengthen ties between the Navy and Ozuoba community, serving as a model for future collaborations.
