The spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, Superintendent of Police Grace Iringe-Koko, described the development as heartbreaking.

She said the case was reported by the mother of the deceased child, Glory Joseph, a resident of No. 21 Okabia Street, Agip Estate, Rumueme.

Iringe-Koko explained that Joseph told the police her daughter, Alicia Olajumoke, aged seven, was picked up from school by the househelp identified as Success, whose surname has not yet been confirmed. Success allegedly took the child home and stabbed her to death. She then reportedly turned the knife on herself, sustaining a fatal wound to her throat.

Police officers visited the scene, documented evidence, and evacuated both the victim and the suspect to the hospital, where they were confirmed dead. The girl’s body has been deposited at the mortuary for autopsy.

According to the command, the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further inquiry. Iringe-Koko noted that preliminary investigations are ongoing, with additional updates to be provided as the case progresses.
