Tinubu Gets Rivers Applause for Rescues

Stakeholders from Rivers State, representing the Ekpeye Peoples Forum (EPC) and the Ekpeye Political Development Forum (EPDF), have praised President Bola Tinubu for his swift action in rescuing the kidnapped schoolgirls in the northern regions of the country.

The stakeholders noted that the President’s efforts, along with other initiatives aimed at addressing national security issues, are producing positive outcomes.

During a joint press conference, they expressed their gratitude to the President for appointing their own Chibudom Nwuche, a former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, as Chairman of the South-South Development Commission (SSDC).

VisionPaul Aluchi, the Chairman of the EPC, and Adamu Moses, the head of the EPDC, made their statements in the Ahoada East local government area of Rivers State.

They raised concerns that insecurity tends to rise “whenever the next general elections approach” and encouraged Tinubu to continue combating this issue.

Aluchi stated, “We want to take this chance to express our worries regarding the recent surge in insecurity across the country and to extend our heartfelt condolences to families who have lost loved ones due to terrorism, particularly in the incidents of last week when students and worshippers were kidnapped.

“We also commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his commitment to restoring safety and security to lives and properties in the country, which he has shown through decisive measures such as appointing new Service Chiefs.

“His commitment to personally lead the fight against insecurity has led to the immediate rescue of 38 abducted worshippers in Kwara State and the release of kidnapped students in Niger and Kebbi States.

“We thus urge the President to remain steadfast, as history indicates that these events are common during election periods, and he should stay determined so that adversaries of his administration do not succeed in their attempts to undermine his government through orchestrated insecurity.”

Aluchi mentioned that, despite being the third-largest ethnic group in the state in terms of population, natural resources, and demographics, past governments have marginalized the populace until former governor Chief Nyesom Wike came into office and alleviated their struggles.

He remarked, “As minister, Wike ensured the appointment of our distinguished son, Rt. Hon. Prince Chibudom Nwuche, as chairman of the South-South Development Commission, has achieved other achievements.

In his comments, Moses began by expressing gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his efforts in securing the 38 individuals who were recently taken captive during an attack on Christ Apostolic Church, Eruku, within the Ekiti local government area of Kwara State.

He noted that the release of the abductees on November 23 was entirely due to the proactive measures taken by the President.

Moses remarked that the newly appointed Service Chiefs played a significant role in their synchronized effort to support the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

He also complimented the President for implementing economic strategies that contributed to lower food prices and an increase in the nation’s foreign reserves.

Moses pointed out that the FCT Minister brought more advancements to the Ekpeye community during his tenure as governor compared to his predecessors, asserting that Wike is replicating his successful initiatives in Abuja.

He highlighted some projects initiated by Wike in the region, such as the dualization of the Ahoada – Omoku Road, complete with modern street lighting, which greatly enhanced Ahoada’s appearance, alongside the establishment of the Faculty of Humanities of Rivers State University in Ahoada, a significant development that brought educational facilities closer to rural areas, boosting economic activities and fostering a new level of social interaction.
