Microsoft Partner With MTN to Strengthen AI Capabilities

Microsoft and MTN Group, the industry leader in telecommunications, have successfully updated and moved South Africa’s Enterprise Value Analytics (EVA) platform to Microsoft Azure. The goal of this big move is to improve its artificial intelligence (AI) and data intelligence skills in a variety of areas.

‎MTN’s digital transformation efforts have advanced significantly with the launch of the cloud-based EVA 3.0 platform, which gives the business greater agility, operational efficiency, and intelligence in evaluating and applying data to improve customer experiences and encourage responsible AI implementation.

‎In an official statement, MTN referred to the upgraded platform as the largest telecommunications cloud deployment in the Middle East, in Nigeria, and Africa at large, emphasizing its capacity to process approximately 22 billion records daily and execute over 800 analytics workflows derived from more than 1,700 data sources.

Constructed on Azure Databricks and safeguarded by Microsoft Defender, EVA 3.0 offers a substantial increase in processing speed, security, and scalability compared to its earlier version.

‎MTN stated that the platform’s real-time analytics feature grants earlier insights into service performance and customer behavior, allowing teams to identify and address issues more swiftly, create more pertinent service offerings, and uphold consistently high service quality.

According to the Group, customers will enjoy faster, more dependable, and intelligently managed digital experiences throughout MTN’s network.

‎Nikos Angelopoulos, the chief information officer at MTN Group, characterized EVA 3.0 as a pivotal achievement in the company’s data transformation and customer-focused strategy.

‎“Our customers anticipate reliability, relevance, and responsiveness in every interaction with us; comprehending our extensive data and deriving meaningful insights promptly has always been fundamental to how we provide that experience,” he remarked, further stating, “With EVA 3.0, we are enhancing those capabilities, analyzing information more swiftly, and applying insights effectively.

‎MTN has reported that its expanding Azure capabilities are supported by its Cloud Centre of Excellence and a network of engineers across the Group, who collectively obtained more Microsoft Azure certifications than any other organization in Africa in 2025.

As of now, the company has achieved over 1,350 certifications, which demonstrates its ongoing investment in cloud expertise, continuous skills enhancement, and dedication to promoting digital capabilities throughout the continent.

‎Building upon this foundation, MTN has stated that it is intensifying its emphasis on secure, data-driven systems that are revolutionizing the way individuals and businesses connect.

By intelligently leveraging cloud technologies and analytics, the company is enhancing reliability, promoting inclusion, and fortifying the foundations of Africa’s digital economy.

‎MTN has indicated that the introduction of EVA 3.0 is in line with its goal to spearhead digital solutions for Africa’s advancement, ensuring that connectivity, data, and innovation remain as driving forces for opportunity and inclusive growth across the continent.
