‎Sen. Ogba Elected Trad Sports Federation President

The National Sports Commission (NSC) has initiated a transformative phase in the administration of sports in Nigeria, following one of the most transparent, inclusive, and peaceful elections for sports federations in recent history.

‎Under the insightful leadership of NSC Chairman Mallam Shehu Dikko and Director General Hon. Bukola Olopade, these elections represented a pivotal moment in sports governance, drawing some of the country’s most skilled professionals to occupy significant roles within the federations.

‎The elections were conducted in a manner that was both free and fair, providing equal opportunities for all qualified stakeholders to participate and contribute to the revitalization of the nation’s sports sector.

‎Observers have noted that the results reflect an increasing confidence in the reforms implemented by the NSC, which emphasize merit, integrity, and national development through sports.

‎Senator Obinna Ogba, who has been elected as President of the Traditional Sports Federation of Nigeria, will leverage his extensive experience in sports administration to foster the growth and preservation of Nigeria’s indigenous sports heritage.

‎Rt. Honorable Victor Ochei, the former Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, has been elected as President of the Nigeria Tennis Federation, showcasing the NSC’s dedication to inclusive and diverse leadership participation across all sports.

‎Mr. Uyi Akpata has been re-elected unopposed as President of the Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF) for a second term. As a senior regional partner at PwC, Akpata has played a crucial role in elevating the standards of Nigerian cricket, promoting grassroots development, and enhancing the country’s sporting reputation on a global scale.

‎Hon. Bukola Olopade characterized the election process as a “new benchmark for transparency and inclusiveness.” He further stated, “Our focus has been to restore confidence in the system.

‎With this new wave of credible and accomplished leadership, the NSC has reaffirmed its commitment to fostering excellence, enhancing governance across federations, and ensuring that Nigerian sports flourish both domestically and internationally.
