Nollywood Producer Arrested After Assaulting Crew On Set

The Nollywood film scene was thrown into shock on October 29, 2025, after a disturbing incident on a movie set went viral online. In the trending video, production manager Anierobi Courage was seen allegedly grabbing and pinning down the head of the makeup department, Mary Chizzy Eze, during a heated altercation.

According to eyewitnesses on set, the confrontation escalated unexpectedly. Courage allegedly held Eze by the neck and forced her to the ground before other crew members rushed to break up the assault. The video footage sparked outrage among colleagues, fans, and entertainment observers, many of whom have since called for stronger safety measures on film sets.

Despite the tense atmosphere, filming reportedly continued for a short while until the Nollywood Task Force arrived on location. Their intervention helped calm the situation, ensure proper medical attention for Eze, and bring production to an immediate pause.

Shortly after, Nigerian police arrested Anierobi Courage on charges of assault. The incident has now ignited broader discussions within the industry, especially regarding the long-standing concerns of workplace hostility, poor conflict-resolution structures, and the lack of formal protection for crew members behind the camera.

Industry unions and guilds have since called for stricter on-set safety protocols, mandatory conflict management training, and swift disciplinary actions against perpetrators of violence.

As the case progresses, many are looking to see whether this moment will spark meaningful reform—one that protects the countless unsung professionals who make Nollywood run. The conversation has begun, and the industry appears to be listening.
