The Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) has officially announced that its Annual General Assembly (AGA) for 2025 will take place in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Wednesday, 29 October 2025.
In confirming this update, the NWFL’s Chief Operating Officer, Ms Modupe Shabi, stated that the 2025 AGA will gather Chairmen and General Managers of both NWFL Premiership and Championship clubs, along with key stakeholders, to discuss the advancement and future of women’s football in Nigeria.
Ms Shabi mentioned that delegates are expected to arrive on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, in preparation for the main congress scheduled for the next day.
Key highlights of this year’s Assembly will include the announcement of the commencement date for the 2025/2026 NWFL Premiership and the official draw for the Premiership, which will reveal the fixtures for the upcoming league season.

The Annual General Assembly serves as the NWFL’s primary decision-making forum, providing a platform for club representatives, administrators, and stakeholders to review the previous season’s events, discuss strategic reforms, and set goals for the ongoing development of women’s football nationwide.
Ms. Shabi conveyed her optimism about the event, stating, “The AGA will provide a platform for constructive discussions as we work together to promote the progress and advancement of women’s football in Nigeria.”
The NWFL COO expressed her preparedness to welcome all participating clubs and stakeholders in Port Harcourt for what is expected to be a crucial meeting in shaping the future of the women’s game in Nigeria.
Meanwhile, preparations for the upcoming season are in full swing following the conclusion of the 2024/2025 season, which witnessed Bayelsa Queens achieve Premiership champions for an unprecedented sixth time after winning the Super Six title in Ikenne.
The NWFL Premiership will expand to 20 teams for the 2025/2026 season with the promotion of Sunshine Queens (Ondo), Castmog Ladies (Ogun), Ahudiyannem Queens (Abia), and Imo Striker Queens (Imo).
In the Championship, newly promoted clubs consist of Dreamstar Ladies (returnees), Rangers Women (debutants), Rosaria Victrix (debutants), and Solo Wonders (debutants), all successfully securing their spots in the NWFL Championship 2026.
