HYPREP Coordinator Lauds Ogoni Youths’ Resilience, Pledges Continued Support

The Project Coordinator of the Hydrocarbon Pollution Remediation Project (HYPREP), Professor Nenibarini Zabbey, has commended the resilience and determination of Ogoni youths, noting that they continue to make the region proud through their achievements and positive representation in various fields.

Professor Zabbey made the remarks in Port Harcourt when he received two distinguished officers of the Nigerian Army — Lieutenant L. N. Gbiiah and Second Lieutenant P. T. Lele — who paid him a courtesy visit. Notably, Second Lieutenant Lele emerged the Overall Best Officer in the Short Service Course 48 (Army).

The HYPREP Coordinator praised the officers for their discipline, hard work, and dedication to national service, describing their success as a reflection of the strength and potential of Ogoni youths.

According to him, programmes such as the Project’s Quarterly Youth Engagements, capacity development workshops, alternative livelihood schemes, job creation efforts, and scholarship opportunities are designed to help Ogoni youths unlock their potential and contribute meaningfully to the development of their communities.

Professor Zabbey further assured that the Cleanup Project would continue to prioritise Ogoni youths, who form a critical part of its beneficiaries, as part of efforts to restore livelihoods and promote sustainable growth in the area.

In their remarks, the visiting officers applauded HYPREP for its ongoing interventions in Ogoniland and expressed appreciation for the agency’s role in improving lives and creating opportunities for young people in the region.
